Meet Ana and Carina

In the picturesque city of Lisbon, where the sun blends with the aroma of spices floating through the streets, two friends found their calling in a vibrant kitchen full of stories. Meet Ana and Carina, two professional chefs whose love to cook and wish to share their Portuguese food, culture and culinary traditions with the world. Both of them got their culinary training at the ACPP - Portuguese Association of Professional Cooks, and worked as chefs in traditional Portuguese restaurants in Lisbon. Later, their passion for teaching grew stronger and they started conducting cooking classes for locals and tourists. For Ana and Carina, the real magic happens when the people start cooking together. As they mix ingredients and share stories with each other, they create bonds that go beyond the kitchen. For a moment, borders disappear and everyone becomes part of one big family, united by a passion for good food and the rich cultural heritage of Portugal.

What to expect

Please note menu might vary. If there are particular dishes you are interested in trying, please include your request in the booking form.

Cooking experience: (2-10 guests) Your small group, shared Lisbon cooking class starts with a tasting of cheese, chorizo and wine from various regions of the country, so that you can prepare your palate for the flavors enjoyed in an authentic Portuguese meal. During your 3-hour hands-on cooking class in Lisbon, learn to cook three traditional Portuguese dishes from scratch. The cooking class focuses on fresh, local and seasonal ingredients, so the menu might change depending on the season and product availability. Each dish that you will prepare is a tribute to the rich culinary heritage of Portugal, a sensorial experience that will transport you to the past, through the stories and recipes shared through generations. After cooking, sit down to share a traditional Portuguese home-cooked meal using Ana and Carina's grandmother's recipes, that you helped prepare.

Market visit: (2-10 guests) Begin your shared guided market tour with a visit to the local market of Algés, to explore the aromas and vibrant colors of seasonal, local fruits and vegetables. Ana and Carina will teach you how to select the freshest produce, while you learn about regional ingredients used in Portuguese cooking. After your market tour walk to their cooking studio for your Portuguese cooking class. Learn traditional techniques and culinary secrets passed down from generation to generation, while you prepare a starter, main course and dessert.

Notes: Ana and Carina can accommodate a vegetarian diet, if informed in advance. The menu includes fish or meat and seafood, so if you have any dietary restrictions or allergies, please let Ana and Carina know while booking your Lisbon cooking class online. Please note that Ana and Carina's cooking studio is not child friendly, so they only accept bookings for those 18 years and above.
