Cooking experience: (1-5 guests) Meet your host Bee at your hotel in Ulaanbaatar and travel together by car, taxi, or public transport to his family’s traditional ger, located about 5 km from the city center in the suburbs. A ger is a portable, round felt tent traditionally used as a home by nomadic families across Mongolia and Central Asia. Upon arrival, Bee and his wife Soy will welcome you into their home with warm nettle tea, foraged by Bee from a nearby mountain. You will be introduced to Mongolian daily life, customs, and food traditions before beginning your hands-on cooking class. During this 2-hour, private cooking class in Ulaanbaatar, you will learn to prepare classic Mongolian home style dishes using fresh, local ingredients and family recipes passed down through generations. Together, you may make handmade noodle soup and traditional steamed dumplings while learning about the role food plays in Mongolian culture and nomadic life. After cooking, sit down to enjoy the meal you helped prepare in the ger. Your traditional Mongolian meal may include noodle soup, steamed dumplings, and sheep meat, shared in a warm, family setting. To end the experience, Bee and Soy will teach you how to play shagai, a traditional Mongolian game using knuckle bones and a favorite activity in their family. This immersive cooking and dining experience offers a rare opportunity to cook, eat, and connect with a local family in a traditional ger, just outside Ulaanbaatar.

3. Round-trip transfers are included in the cost of the experience so please include your hotel name and address when you book online.

So happy I began my Ulaanbataar trip with Bee & Soy. Truly lovely people that welcomed me into their home, told me about their community, about how they live & about the food they love. Bee met me in hotel reception as arranged, we took a ‘taxi’, a local bus, then a short walk backwards up a hill and arrived at their Ger. Had good conversation, cooked, ate with his family, & learnt about Mongolia. Thank you so much Bee & Soy
The excitement of this adventurous visit began with our bus ride out of the center of Ulanbaataar. On the way to Begzsuren’s home we saw how the locals lived by seeing a different way of life than what we had seen in the city. We made our way to his traditional Ger where his wife greeted us. Soon after, Begzsuren arrived with a kettle of water that he had gathered from the well up the hill from his home. Being inside the ger home was an incredible experience. We learned about how families live throughout the year. The ambience in Begzsuren’s home was very traditional and real. I felt as if I were in the middle of the gobi dessert with a nomadic family, which I loved. My favorite thing about the experience was being able to have lunch in a traditional Mongolian home.

One of the most memorable experiences of my trip to Mongolia was Bee’s food tour. What made it so special was that it wasn’t just about tasting great food—we were welcomed into his home. Spending time in Bee’s house, sharing authentic homemade dishes, and hearing stories about Mongolian culture gave me a genuine connection to the country that I never could have gotten from a restaurant or typical tour. Bee and Soy were warm, welcoming, and so incredibly knowledgeable. The entire experience felt personal, relaxed, and authentic. If you want to experience real Mongolian hospitality and cuisine, I can’t recommend Bee’s tour highly enough.- debra June 09, 2026

Bee and Soy were wonderful hosts! Bee is an excellent storyteller and teacher, and kept in constant communication to ensure the trip went smoothly. I was gifted an important object in Mongolian tradition, a personal bowl, and was also told other things about the philosophy of Mongolian food, the structure of the family, and what it is like to live in a ger. I was shown games with bones and was taught how they are important to the ger. What is most important, both to anyone who books this and to Bee and Soy, is that you will cook together. You will participate in the making of food, and enjoy it together. I do not think I would have experienced this in a regular tour or without their guidance. This was truly an unforgettable experience, and I am honored to have experienced their hospitality. -Victor- victor May 23, 2026
