Yoshiko was an amazing host! My partner and I had so much fun learning about basic Japanese seasonings and kitchen staples, and of course cooking okonomiyaki. We recently attended a cooking class hosted by a local mom in Osaka, and it was an amazing experience. Our host Yoshiko was welcoming, and the small class size allowed for hands-on learning. We learned to prepare traditional Japanese. The flavors were authentic, and our host's warmth made it feel like a visit with a friend. It's a highly recommended experience for those looking to learn about Japanese cuisine and culture.- Bernie_A September 20, 2023

My teenage daughters and I had a lovely time learning to cook five different dishes with Yoshiko. She picked us up from her local train station, took us to the local grocery store and then we headed to her home. She was well prepped for us to make the most of the time we had to learn how to prepare five different dishes; chicken teriyaki, rolled egg omelet, tofu gratin, wakame/ cucumber/ spinach salad, salmon with steamed veggies, teriyaki chicken. We also had rice, miso soup, tea, and kirin. She was such a sweet lady and took the time to speak with my daughter who is learning and trying to use Japanese while she is here. I’d highly recommend Yoshiko’s mother’s taste cooking class if you want to learn how to make a home cooked meal. It was a lot of delicious food, so come hungry. Mahalo nui loa Yoshiko for your hospitality, we enjoyed the experience!- Teri N March 12, 2023

100% of Traveling Spoon experiences are private! Just you and your host and host’s family.
Hosts typically respond to booking inquiries within 72 hours. If for some reason you have not heard from your host or if you have any questions you can always contact us at reservations@travelingspoon.com.
Your safety and security are our top priority. To ensure this, Traveling Spoon personally vets 100% of all hosts, including an in-person host visit, to ensure each host and experience meets our strict quality requirements.
Some hosts offer transportation as an optional add-on for travelers. Typically this is round trip transportation with pick up and drop off at your hotel. Pricing is quoted per car. Specific instructions for transportation will be provided in your confirmation details when your booking is confirmed.
Many of our hosts accommodate solo travelers. You can see if a host accepts solo travelers by looking at the traveler range found next to the experience descriptions on the host profile (indicated by the numbers in parentheses next to "In-home meal", "Cooking experience" and "Market visit").
Most of our Traveling Spoon experiences are incredibly family friendly and can accommodate infants and children. If a host is unable to accommodate children that will be noted in the “Notes” section of their profile. Our child pricing policy is children aged 5-11 are 50% off, and infants aged 0-4 are free.
