Cooking experience:
(1-4 guests)
Experience a private, hands-on Osaka cooking class in Yoshiko’s kitchen and learn to prepare 2-3 authentic Japanese home-style dishes from scratch. The class begins with Yoshiko showing you how to make dashi stock, the essential foundation for many Japanese dishes. You’ll learn how to use dashi instead of water to enhance the umami flavors in each dish, creating meals that are both delicious and authentic. The cooking portion of your Osaka cooking class lasts about one hour, after which you will sit down and enjoy the meal you helped prepare. Yoshiko provides printed recipes so you can recreate these dishes at home and share the flavors of Japan with friends and family. If you choose the optional alcohol add-on, enjoy a glass of plum wine (available if requested in advance).
Important NOTE: Please let Yoshiko know at least one week in advance which of the four menu options you would like to cook. If she does not hear from you, she will prepare Option 1: Mother’s Taste.
Notes:
1. When booking, please include your menu preference or message it to Yoshiko as soon as possible.
2. Provide the best email address in your booking so Yoshiko can easily share any logistics updates.
3. Meeting Point: Meet Yoshiko directly at her home in Takarazuka, 30 minutes by train from central Osaka. Take the Hankyu Takarazuka Line from Hankyu Umeda Station to Kawanishi-Noseguchi Station, a journey of approximately 30 minutes. From the station, Yoshiko’s home is about a 10-minute taxi ride away.

We had a great time learning about Japanese home style cooking. We got practice making several dishes. Yoshiko is a great teacher. She also provided written instructions to use a reference for when we get home. A fun experience and delicious meal!- Jim November 13, 2025
We had a wonderful experience with Yoshiko. She was incredibly welcoming, attentive, and well-prepared to receive us. We learned how to make Japanese omelettes (Tamagoyaki) – quite an art in itself – and discovered the traditional Osaka dish, Okonomiyaki. The food was delicious and of excellent quality, and Yoshiko shared many great cooking tips and ideas along the way. We felt truly cared for and warmly hosted throughout the class. I can highly recommend this cooking experience with Yoshiko – it’s authentic, inspiring, and full of heart.- Prisha November 02, 2025
It takes place in a local mom’s home, which makes it feel warm, personal, and truly authentic. The dishes we learned were delicious yet simple to prepare, using ingredients that are easy to find and recipes you can easily recreate at home. Yoshiko was kind, patient, and engaging, creating a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. It felt like cooking with family rather than attending a formal class. I highly recommend this experience to anyone looking to learn home-style Japanese cooking while connecting with local culture in a genuine and memorable way.- Lucas October 15, 2025
