Meet Mahnaz

Mahnaz, originally from Iran, is now happily settled in Stockholm. She is a scientist with a deep passion for culinary creativity. By day, she is delving into cancer research, and by night she is immersed in the world of food and diverse cuisines. She learned the art of cooking from her mother at the age of 12, and often you'll often find Mahnaz trying to recreate flavors from her mother’s kitchen - that feel like home! Her roots trace back to both the enchanting landscapes of North West and South of Iran, and this rich cultural blend has inspired her to explore and master a diverse array of dishes from across the country. Cooking is not just a hobby for Mahnaz; it's a form of art through which she expresses her love and appreciation for the people in her life. Through this experience, she aims to share with traveler’s a traditional Iranian meal and the stories behind the ingredients and culture.

Come, join her for a delightful evening where heart-warming hospitality meets the aromatic delights of Persian cuisine! A few dishes you might try at Mahnaz’s table are fesenjan, a delectable stew featuring ground walnuts, pomegranate paste, and poultry - creating a sweet and sour symphony, which is served with a Persian-style rice dish, complete with the coveted tahdig—a crispy layer forming at the bottom of the pot, or zereshk polo ba morgh, a barberry rice with chicken, often accompanied by pistachios and almonds, kashk-e-bademjan, a creamy eggplant dip paired with traditional flatbread and to complete the feast, a refreshing shirazi salad with Persian cucumber, tomato, finely diced and mixed with fresh herbs like mint and parsley, dressed with olive oil, lime or lemon juice. For dessert, you might delight in the taste of traditional Persian ice cream, featuring flavors of saffron, pistachio, and rose water—a perfect ending to your culinary journey at Mahnaz’s table. As the culinary journey unfolds, you'll discover the unique and flavorful essence of Persian gastronomy.

Cooking experience: (1-7 guests) Join Mahnaz in her home kitchen for a hands-on Persian cooking class. This is a 1.5 hour hands-on cooking experience, where Mahnaz guides you through crafting two dishes of your choice from the menu. After cooking, savor the traditional Persian meal you helped prepare at the dinning table with Mahnaz.

Mahnaz showed our party of four a wonderful time! We have had Persian food before, but we chose to learn about 4 completely new dishes (an herb frittata, braised chicken and steamed basmati rice, a diced vegetable salad, and Persian ice cream), which all tasted amazing. Mahnaz was the main cook, but we added a little help so we could better understand how each dish was made. We asked a lot of questions, and Mahnaz was so gracious to explain everything in such an easy way. She even sent us home with her recipes and some of her special ingredients for us to try on our own. We talked about food, family, culture, and traveling. It was an fantastic experience that we will not forget. Thank you!!!

We had a lovely cooking experience with our guide Mahnaz, the food we cooked was really delicious and we are already planning to try out the recipes in the coming weekend! Mahnaz is also a really cozy and friendly host, the conversation went on easily the whole evening. If I should give one suggestion for improvement, it would be to delegate some more cooking tasks to the guests😊 but we also understand that it's hard to find cooking tasks and split among four guests. Overall, we would really recommend you to book this cooking experience!

Great time spent learning how to cook Persian rice chicken and « côtelettes ». Mahnaz is a great cook and great at showing and sharing tips and tricks. Her house is well kept. The children had a good time too playing and helping a bit. Then the lunch was wonderful. The chicken and rice was amazingly tender and flavorful. Highly recommend

I went and learned to cook a few Persian dishes with Mahnaz, she was very welcoming and kind. Before the event, she worked with me to ensure I liked what we would make, asked about food restrictions and allergies. After agreeing on the menu, I showed up following the directions which were straightforward, and meet up with Mahnaz, we had some short introductions, she had some tea and a snack ready, then she presented two options: we cook together, or she instruct me and I cook. I opted for cooking together. We chatted and cooked, tried the food, and added more spices as needed. After a bit over an hour, we had a delicious meal we had made together. She shared some non-alcoholic apple cider and we chatted some more over our dinner. She took care of the clean up and sent me in my way. Overall it was an awesome experience, ai learned 4 new recipes (one starter, a main, a sauce, and the rice), I'm already recommending this to my friend who lives here in Stockholm, and I recommend it to you, if you're in the area!
