In-home meal: (7-14 guests) Sit down to a warm and authentic Hanoian meal at Hong’s table, where every dish reflects the heart of home cooking. More than simply sharing a meal, this experience offers a glimpse into the everyday food culture of Hanoi, from the fresh ingredients found in local markets to the herbs and traditional spices commonly used in a Hanoian family kitchen. Your meal begins with a fresh, seasonal salad, such as banana blossom, kohlrabi, or green papaya, depending on the day’s market finds. For the main course, enjoy either chả cá, a beloved Hanoi specialty of turmeric-marinated fish with dill and spring onions, served with vermicelli, or Hang’s light and flavorful spring rolls with herbs and homemade dipping sauce. As each dish is served, Hang will share how it is prepared, the spices and ingredients used, and the role they play in creating its distinctive flavour. End with seasonal Vietnamese fruits, laughter, and conversation about life in Hanoi. If you choose, enjoy a crisp local Vietnamese beer alongside your meal.
Cooking experience: (2-14 guests) This 2.5-hour cooking class and meal experience in a local Hanoi home, offers an authentic, heartwarming window into Hanoian cultural and culinary traditions. As you cook, sip on a homemade tropical tea infused with ginger, lemongrass, or lychee, and pick up time-honored techniques and stories from Hang’s family kitchen. Start with learning to cook a fresh, herb-filled salad, then choose between crispy spring rolls or chả cá lã vọng, Hanoi’s iconic turmeric-marinated fish, grilled and served sizzling with dill, herbs, and rice noodles for a bold, unforgettable flavor. If you want to cook another Vietnamese or Hanoian dish, please let your host know in advance so that she can adjust the menu accordingly. Vegetarian options are available, just share your preferences when booking.
Market visit: (2-14 guests) Enjoy a 45-minute guided walking tour through a local Hanoian market with Hang and discover and sample Vietnamese fruit, herbs and other regional produce. Watch as locals bargain with vendors at this lively Hanoian market. Purchase ingredients at the market for your meal before returning to Hang's home to begin your authentic Vietnamese cooking class and a meal.
Food Tour: (2-7 guests) The food route begins at Hang’s house in the heart of Hanoi’s Old Quarter, just a 5-minute walk from Hoan Kiem Lake. Here, you will experience a real home-kitchen setting and discover stories of a Hanoi family passed down through generations. Hang family warmly welcome you with homemade tea and traditional snacks - a small taste of Hanoi’s hospitality. Before we set out, Hang will talk about your food interests and experiences in Hanoi, and together choose the food and route that suit you best. Please let Hang know in advance about any food allergies or dietary requirements. This is more than a food tour. As we walk through the Old Quarter, we will explore the cultural life of Hanoi through its narrow alleys, local homes, communal houses, pagodas and hidden temples tucked among the old streets. Along the way, you will taste at least seven different Hanoi dishes, including snacks, drinks and main dishes, each accompanied by its own story - about the ingredients, the people, the traditions, or the everyday life behind the food. Come hungry, walk with curiosity, and discover Hanoi one dish and one story at a time.

Hong and Hang invited us into their home with grace and kindness. They cooked an authentic Vietnamese meal and explained their cooking methods. They were wonderful hosts and made our experience even more special by playing us music on a traditional instrument. I would highly recommend booking with Hang and Hong while visiting Hanoi.- todd August 21, 2026

This was an exceptionally wonderful experience. Hang is absolutely delightful. The trip through the market was fun and interesting. She gave us each a basket to carry and filled it up with lots of fresh ingredients, while stopping to explain if we had questions. When my daughter said she loved passion fruit, Hang added some to our basket, and took them home to make us a drink with them. She explained every step of each recipe that we prepared in her immaculate home kitchen, as well as sharing family anecdotes. Her daughter came in to help at the end. We sat down to a delicious meal! Highly recommend this!- Jenny August 10, 2025
