Meet Natalie

Many locals might know Natalie as a finalist of the international TV competition, MasterChef but Natalie’s story is linked to the culinary world from her childhood. Her four grandparents came from Europe to Argentina and opened a very well-known boutique food store called Luxor in the Belgrano neighborhood, offering delicious European dishes and bakery products. Natalie has fond memories of her grandparents taking her to the store ever since she was five. She would sit on the kitchen table, witnessing and tasting the delicious food made by the chef and his team. Her grandfather had an unusually refined taste when it came to food - he taught her that every meal should be an experience, not just a formality. That’s what Natalie intends to convey as a Traveling Spoon host.

In addition to being a professional chef with a culinary degree from the prestigious school IAG, Natalie is a graphic designer. Graphic design has had an impact on every aspect of her life, and in particular on her culinary development. With every culinary experience, Natalie tries to tell her guests a story by combining exquisite tastes, visually attractive presentation of food, a neat table setting and a stylish ambience.

What to expect

Please note menu might vary. If there are particular dishes you are interested in trying, please include your request in the booking form.

In-home meal: (2-12 guests) Natalie will welcome you to her home in the beautiful neighborhood of Belgrano Chico with a traditional aperitif called 'humita,' made from corn, and a glass of vermouth. After her warm welcome, Natalie will lead you into her modern kitchen and offer a taste of typical Northern Argentinean potatoes with chorizo (Argentina's most famous pork sausage). She'll then unveil the secrets behind one of Argentina's most cherished dishes, the 'carbonada,' using her special ingredient. The carbonada is a delightful ossobuco stew, slow-cooked for hours with traditional ingredients like sweet potatoes, pumpkin, and peaches, all served with her special spicy sauce. For dessert, you'll savor Argentina's most traditional sweet, 'dulce de leche,' in a modern twist. You'll enjoy your meals in Natalie's dining room in winter, and in summer, you can spend time on her terrace. Additionally, she can arrange a traditional Argentine barbecue option during the spring and summer months, so please let her know in advance if you'd like this option.

Cooking experience: (2-5 guests) Your journey to Buenos Aires will never be complete without tasting the food and learning to cook like a true Porteño. And Natalie is excited to offer you a unique culinary experience that will immerse you in Argentina's gastronomic culture. In your Buenos Aires cooking class learn how to prepare irresistible empanadas or pancakes with the famous dulce de leche, guided by one of the finalists of MasterChef Argentina. You will not only uncover the secrets behind these iconic dishes but also immerse yourself in the history and traditions that surround them. You will learn about local ingredients, unique cooking techniques and tips to prepare Argentina's classic dishes. Natalie is accustomed to presenting her dishes and cooking techniques in great detail on television, so be ready to take plenty of mental notes as you assist her in preparing her special dishes. Leave with a full stomach, great insights into the culture and some of her recipes.

Notes: If there are any local foods you wish to try in Buenos Aires, please let Natalie know in advance and she can customize the menu for the Argentinean cooking class.
