Meet Federico

Federico, a third generation vineyard owner, and along with his family, operate the farm stay and winery. He was born in Florence but we moved to the winery in the early 2000’s and immediately fell in love with the countryside. Since Federico was 5 years old he began to understand what it meant to take care of plants and nature by following his father in the vineyard and helping him to grow the vegetable garden. Thanks to this, it was also possible for him to fully understand the importance of using local, organic and seasonal ingredients in the kitchen to produce dishes that express the true character of the Tuscan territory. Growing up, there was no shortage of opportunities to work in the cellar, following all the phases of the wine production process step by step, only to learn about the finished product after reaching adulthood. At the same time he began his university studies, Federico began to accompany his father to many wine fairs abroad, this also allowed him to acquire a lot of knowledge regarding the commercial aspect of the world of wine, making him more and more passionate about it. His current objective is to share this passion with those curious about the world of wine and extra virgin olive oil, which would help people understand the value of these products and how to identify a good quality product.

What to expect

Please note menu might vary. If there are particular dishes you are interested in trying, please include your request in the booking form.

In-home meal: (2-15 guests) Your experience takes place on a mid-sized family-owned vineyard founded in 1986. This vineyard also has olive groves and a winery. They are producers of high quality Chianti wines - Chianti Classico, IGT, Bianco, sparkling wine, Vinsanto Occhio di Pernice and extra virgin olive oil. Your Chianti wine tour and Tuscan meal is a 1 hour fun and educational shared tour, accompanied with a traditional Tuscan meal. It is led by the owner, Federico, or someone wonderful from the team.

Start the tour with an introduction to enology and viticulture concepts. Then get a tour of the wine cellar and the adjacent vineyard. Federico will explain the wine-making process, the winery’s agricultural techniques, how the terroir has an impact on the final product, the winery’s history and its philosophy. You will then be lead through the wine tasting, with an explanation for the single wines, their story, their production process and their description (appearance, nose, mouth). End the tour with 3 wine tastings, a choice between whites and reds, accompanied by a Tuscan meal featuring local and seasonal products. Your home-cooked Tuscan meal, prepared the the in-house chef using local recipes and high quality, seasonal ingredients, might include an appetizer, a main and a dessert, accompanied with dessert wine.

Notes: Lactose free, gluten free, vegetarian and vegan diets can be accommodated, on request. Please let your host know in advance if you have any dietary restrictions or allergies, while booking your wine tasting in Chianti online. Please note that on days when the owner, Federico, is unavailable, someone wonderful from the team will accompany you on this tour. Also unlike most Traveling Spoon experiences, this is a shared experience (not private).
