Your host Sally
Sally is an architect and a food photographer, who is also passionate about food styling and cooking. She is excited to share her Iraqi heritage with travelers, through this cooking class. Sally learned to cook Iraqi dishes from her mother while growing up. She considers herself a global nomad, as Sally was born in Iraq and lived there until the age of 10. Later she moved to Dubai and in 2018, she moved to Melbourne. Food has been an important part of this journey, especially now since Sally misses her mother’s cooking. During the lockdown, food and food photography were two things that made Sally very happy. And being an architect, Sally says cooking for her is like an art project!

"Sally was extremely personable and clear in her instructions for each recipe. It was a lovely experience to meet her and learn a little about her culture through her food. She was patient, friendly, very happy to share tips about the recipes that would not always be clear in the written recipe. Thank you Sally for a truly wonderful cultural experience. Sally was efficient in her preparation and her written recipe made it easy for me to be well prepared prior to the beginning of the class. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with her and, because of this experience, it made me want to extend my experience further."

"She was so wonderful. I appreciated that she was accommodating to adapt her recipe to feed four people instead of two. She even stayed a half hour longer with me to make sure my bread turned out ok. The food was delicious and the bread making was a lot of fun. Great class!"
